ABOUT US

The original idea of the Friends of Pioneer was birthed in 2016, as a Facebook group, to financially support the ongoing ministry of Pioneer. At that time, the Friends of Pioneer was able to donate much-needed funds at a critical point in Pioneer's history.

Years later, in January of 2020, when news of the camp being sold was announced, two members of the original Friends of Pioneer group, who had a long-standing history with camp, decided to do whatever they could to preserve Pioneer's land for future ministry. They set out to form a non-profit organization, the Friends of Pioneer, Inc, and spread the word to others who wanted to see Pioneer continue to serve future generations.

Later that year, a small group of Pioneer friends gathered at camp, over Labor Day Weekend 2020, to offer their support. Many memories were shared as well as commitments to camp's future. The non-profit 501(c)3 Friends of Pioneer, Inc was officially formed and registered soon after that.

In August of 2021, God miraculously provided for the purchase of the land by another non-profit organization, Concordia Lutheran Ministries of Cabot, Pa, a nursing home ministry that had been one of the most prominent supporters of Pioneer in the past. They have partnered with the Friends of Pioneer, Inc, commissioning us to manage the day-to-day operations of Pioneer on the Lake.

Throughout this process, the Friends of Pioneer has engaged with a collaborative team of camp experts from Kaleidoscope, Inc of Columbus, Ohio, to assist in mission planning, camp management, program planning, non-profit governance, marketing, donor relations, and civil and structural engineering.

As the Friends of Pioneer, Inc, we are committed to seeking God's wisdom and vision for Pioneer on the Lake’s future ministry and to being wise stewards of the gifts God has provided through so many faithful supporters like you!
